This work is also referred to by the artist as "Harmony (Knot #4)." She has created a series of related symbolic works with the theme of peace. She refers to a Thai phrase: “Puk-Mai-Tri” which refers to the tying or bonding a relationship between people, cultures, communities or countries. The tying of a knot is a metaphor for unity and striving for peace. The aesthetic lines and shapes of this knot appeals to both the artist’s visual and mental state.
Yupin Pramotepipop lived in Bangkok, Thailand until moving to New York where she worked teaching at The Art Students League of New York and then as a fine art sculptor.
