Passing time”, Sit back, relax, and think of time’s past when our fathers, grandfathers and past generations used to work so hard with their hands and the old tools used in this bench.
I was raised in Viborg , South Dakota, where I started my welding and repair shop in 1973. During the first years in business I mostly did repair and fabrication work. I always had artistic ideas and remember making small art pieces in high school, but it wasn’t until the late 1980s that I started designing and working with metal sculptures.
Over the last 20 years, I have been commissioned to design various art pieces including a 6 foot and 12 foot tall pair of giraffes, two 14 foot tall stainless steel crosses, hand railings for homes, churches, and other specialty pieces. Although I have never received any formal art training, I enjoy taking ideas that I have drawn on paper and turn them into a unique pieces of art that people can enjoy.
A few years ago I quit keeping track of where I have metal pieces of art. But at that time I had pieces in 42 of the lower 48 states, two provinces in Canada, and Alaska.
