Rough Rider pays homage to the classic motorcycles of the 40’s and 50’s – Harley Davidsons, Nortons and Indians – using reclaimed metal. The sculpture beguiles and invites viewers to physically interact with it, to sit astride the low slung beast and grasp the handlebars while letting their imagination run wild.
Al Kuhl has been doing metal sculpture for over 30 years, mostly as a hobby. In the past it was just a personal pleasure doing it mostly for family gifts and a creative outlet. He has shown his works at galleries, gift shops, nursery’s and has sold privately. With a full-time job and many other interests, the time he gets to spend on his sculpture is limited.
