This is the artist’s impression of a man whose love of Christ inspired him to leave wealth behind and devote himself to prayer and charity. Gentle, thoughtful, and disciplined, Benedict’s life and writings have shed their influence for 15 centuries of western civilization. In his desire to hear God’s voice above the clatter of daily life, Benedict is a welcome presence for our times. Benedict is the Patron Saint of Europe and of students.
